Gotthardstrasse, Zürich-Enge

This late nineteenth-century building located at Gotthardstrasse 5 in Zurich was acquired by UTOREM for a family office in 2016. Previously used as an office property for many decades, it was reverted to its original residential use and modernised in 2019.

The building was refurbished in close cooperation with the historic buildings and monuments authority. The existing fabric and consequently many typical features of this venerable building needed to be preserved. In their design, renowned Zurich-based architects Christina Nater and Simon Kretz applied a surprisingly high degree of flexibility in the allocation of uses. By simply adding and separating spatial units, it was possible to create different sized apartments ranging from 45 m² to 180 m². This facilitates long-term and sustainable letting arrangements, which can be adjusted depending on market demand.

The resulting 12 units offer the perfect combination of modern housing in a high-end and stylish period building. All apartments are equipped with a balcony, roof terrace or garden. Thanks to this central yet quiet location in Zurich’s Enge district, these high-end apartments are highly sought after.
